IP PBX or Traditional PABX: What Should a Growing Business Install?
Office telephony has moved from analogue exchanges to internet-based systems, but both are still sold in Bangladesh. Choosing between them comes down to how your business will grow.
Traditional PABX
An analogue PABX from brands such as Panasonic or Excelltel connects ordinary telephone handsets over copper pairs to a small number of outside lines. It is inexpensive, needs no network knowledge and is perfectly adequate for a small office with a handful of extensions that never moves.
IP PBX
An IP PBX such as the Zycoo CooVox series uses your data network. Extensions can be IP desk phones from Grandstream, Fanvil or Dinstar, softphones on laptops and mobiles, or remote workers connected over the internet. Features that cost extra on analogue systems, such as voicemail to email, call recording, IVR menus and conference rooms, are built in. Adding an extension is a configuration change rather than a cabling job.
How to decide
- Fewer than ten fixed desks and no remote staff: a traditional PABX still makes sense.
- Multiple branches, staff who travel, or plans to expand: choose an IP PBX and keep a few analogue trunks through an FXO module for local landlines.
- Existing analogue handsets you want to keep: hybrid IP PBX models support both.
Tech Solution Bangladesh supplies and configures both types, including SIP trunk setup and IP phone provisioning. Compare PABX and IP phone products.
